Lawndale’s 11th Annual Field of Honor®

November 6–12 | Lawndale Civic Center
A Tribute to Service, Sacrifice, and the American Spirit

A cherished South Bay tradition continues as the City of Lawndale presents its 11th Annual Field of Honor®, featuring 200 American flags displayed at the Lawndale Civic Center. This inspiring tribute honors our nation’s veterans, those currently serving in the Armed Forces, first responders, and all who have answered the call to serve and protect others. Each flag represents a story of courage, sacrifice, and devotion to something greater than oneself.

This year’s display carries special meaning as our nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of American independence and the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. These historic milestones invite us to reflect on the ideals that unite us, remember those whose lives were forever changed by service and sacrifice, and recognize the generations who have helped shape our nation’s story.

What makes Lawndale’s Field of Honor® truly extraordinary is the role played by its youngest citizens.

Each year, different children from the Lawndale School District help bring the field to life by placing the flags and carefully attaching the memorial tags that identify the individuals being honored. As their hands prepare each flag, these students become part of something much larger than an annual community event. They encounter the names, stories, and legacies of people who have served our country, offering a profound and uniquely personal opportunity to learn about patriotism, gratitude, remembrance, and the meaning of service.

Flags may be sponsored for $25, with sponsors retaining their flags at the close of the event as meaningful keepsakes to display in Lawndale and surrounding communities. Each sponsored flag helps ensure that the stories of those being honored remain visible and remembered long after the field comes down.

Proceeds from the Field of Honor® will benefit programs of the City of Lawndale, extending the spirit of service beyond the display and into the community.

Made possible through donations, sponsorships, and the dedication of volunteers, Lawndale’s Field of Honor® is a gift to the entire community—a place to gather, reflect, remember, and celebrate the American spirit. It is also a reminder that the values we honor today must be shared with the generations who will carry them into tomorrow.

The display is open to everyone at no charge.

Visit the Lawndale Civic Center November 6–12, sponsor a flag, volunteer, or bring your family to experience this moving tribute. Together, we can honor those who have served, remember those we have lost, and inspire the next generation to understand the true meaning of service, sacrifice, and community.
