Healing Field® and Field of Honor® are both registered by the Colonial Flag Foundation, and they are licensed to use of registered events. Local hosts choose which name to use. The Healing Field® designation usually honors those who have died because visitors to the displays have reported a feeling of healing when visiting these events. A Field of Honor® display may be used when honoring any heroes.

Register as early as possible to take full advantage of benefits available to registered events. Completed Project Worksheets and Event License-Agreements are processed when they and the registration fees are received. This usually is completed within a week.

Distributing flags to the sponsors eliminates storage and provide fresh flags for each year’s display. Flags that are stored are tightly rolled or furled around the staff and secured with a rubber band. They can then be stacked in a clean and dry storage area.

We will guide you every step of the way, however here are the basic steps from start to finish:

  • Contact us with your objectives to confirm we have what you need.
    Email (or mail back) the forms we send to you.
  • Once registered, we’ll send you all the program materials, tools and resources to move forward.
  • We’ll then help you get organized, promote, fundraise and get the word out.
  • We’ll build your custom web page and add your logo, pictures and press as you receive it. (You will also be highlighted on our national site).
  • We’ll give you ongoing support leading up to and after the event.
  • When we receive donations for you, we’ll place them in escrow for you to accept and/or hold a portion in reserve for future events.

Once registered, you have the option to display as many flags as you would like. That number can depend on many factors, such as the community size, support and number of volunteers.

Some organizations will display flags based on individuals they are honoring, an anniversary date or another number appropriate for their memorial, celebration or cause. We can also help you determine what is best for your group. Just give us a call at 866-375-3524.

There are many appropriate events and causes that serve as themes for events. Holidays such as Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Patriot Day and Veterans Day are popular. However, local holidays and observes are also good choices. Causes such as Child Abuse Prevention, Fighting Drunk Driving and similar causes are appropriate.

Volunteers can assist host organizations in posting and taking down flag displays.

Proceeds from each event go to the benefiting charity listed on the events webpage. Typically, these contributions stay in the local community.

Sponsors ordering flags online receive a confirmation email which acts as the receipt. Sponsors for flags ordered locally receive a receipt from the local committee when the order is placed.

Healing Field® displays originated to honor those killed in the 9/11 attacks of 2001. When communities around the country began hosting similar licensed events, visitors reposted a sense of healing when visiting these displays, which gave these events their name. As more communities wanted to honor and expanded group of heroes, the name Field of Honor® was created to give added flexibility in the choice of names and themes. Local host organization decide which name fits their event best.
