Those traveling Utica’s Memorial Parkway enjoy the beautiful vista of green lawns and foliage along its course, and those driving along this route in early November experience added scenes of color as 1,000 United States flags fly amid landscape and sky. Flags of the 4th Annual Utica Field of Honor® display will stand posted in ordered rows and columns during the days leading to Veterans Day.
Hosted annually by Utica’s Good News Center in tribute to heroes who serve, protect and defend us, the display posts individual Flags to honor military, veterans, first responders and all those who become our heroes through repeated acts of selfless service. Flags may be dedicated to individuals for $35, and after the events close, they may be retained by the sponsors to be presented to heroes and their families or to be displayed by Mohawk Valley residents.
Proceeds will benefit Sitrin’s Military Rehabilitation Program, which provides physical therapy care for those with health problems resulting from injury or disease.
The Utica Field of Honor® display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or making a donation.
