Those traveling along West Walker Drive during Veterans Day weekend will once again be rewarded with an exceptional view of 500 United States flags flying atop 7½-foot white flagstaffs. Truckers passing through Asheboro often sound their horns in salute to the inspiring scene. Pull off West Walker Drive, find a spot in the adjacent parking lot, and experience Asheboro’s 10th Annual Field of Honor® display.
Each Veterans Day, the Asheboro-Randolph Chamber of Commerce and the Asheboro Rotary Club come together to host this inspiring display, bringing together residents of Randolph County and surrounding communities in tribute to those who have served. As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, we are reminded that throughout our nation’s history—and through changing times and political landscapes—our military men and women have continued to answer the call to serve and defend our country.
Hard to adequately describe, the Asheboro Field of Honor® is an experience that must be seen and felt to be fully appreciated. Each flag in the display represents an individual and tells a story of service, sacrifice, and love of country. Sponsored flags honor those individuals who have served to protect our nation and our communities, providing all of us an opportunity to remember and express our gratitude to our heroes.
The funds raised through the event benefit the charitable programs of the Rotary Club of Asheboro and the Asheboro-Randolph Chamber of Commerce.
The Asheboro Field of Honor® display is a gift to the community, made possible through donations, sponsorships, and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. Please show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or making a donation.
The display is open to all without charge. We invite you, your family, and your friends to visit the Asheboro Field of Honor® and walk among the posted flags. This inspiring and memorable experience is one not to be missed.
