August 29 – September 12
As America commemorates the 25th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks during our nation’s historic 250th Anniversary, the Madison Exchange Club invites the community to unite in remembrance, gratitude, and patriotism at the inspiring Madison Salutes Our Heroes Field of Honor®.
From August 29 through September 12, hundreds of United States flags will stand in majestic formation across Madison Green, creating a breathtaking panorama that honors the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, the courageous men and women who answered the call that day, and all those who have continued to answer the call in service to our nation ever since.
This powerful display pays tribute to the extraordinary sacrifices of our nation’s voluntary military, veterans, first responders, active-duty service members, Gold Star families, child abuse prevention advocates, hometown heroes, and the everyday Americans whose selfless service strengthens our communities. Each flag tells a story of courage, sacrifice, and love of country.
As we celebrate 250 years of American independence, we are reminded that every generation has been called upon to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today. From the founding of our nation to the heroes of September 11 and those who continue to wear the uniform of our country, Americans have answered that call with uncommon courage and unwavering resolve.
The Stars and Stripes remain our nation’s enduring symbol of unity, hope, and perseverance. Through times of triumph and tragedy, the American flag reminds us that we are stronger together, honoring the sacrifices of those who came before us while inspiring future generations to serve something greater than themselves.
Madison Salutes Our Heroes is more than a patriotic display—it is a heartfelt gift to the community, made possible through the generosity of sponsors, donors, and the dedicated volunteers of the Madison Exchange Club. Community members are invited to participate by sponsoring a flag in honor or memory of someone special or by making a charitable contribution to support the Club’s important community programs.
Walking among these beautiful rows of American flags is a moving experience that leaves a lasting impression on visitors of every age. It is a place for quiet reflection, heartfelt gratitude, and renewed appreciation for those who answered the call when our nation needed them most.
The display is open to the public daily and admission is free. We invite everyone to visit Madison Green, experience this unforgettable tribute, and join us as we honor the heroes who have shaped America’s past, safeguard her present, and inspire her future.
