The landscape in California’s western Riverside County along the northeast side of U.S. I-10 runs rugged and barren as travelers approach the Date Palm Drive Exit. Cathedral City appears is a welcome oasis amid communities that thrive in the desert clime. Following Date Palm Drive south drivers approach the Patriot Park at Dinah Shore Drive, where they are struck with a panorama of red, white & blue. Among the many amenities that residents and tourists enjoy, Cathedral City’s Rotary Club presents a unique experience each November with the transformation of the city’s Patriot Park into an amazing display of United States flags that fit the park’s name precisely. 5,000 U.S. flags form the largest annual display of the Star & Stripes posted by any Colonial Flag Foundation flag display events, and the sight is spectacular.
The massive formation of flags honors America’s fallen who sacrificed all on foreign battlefields in the fight against terrorism since the attacks of 9/11 of 2001. Each flag tells a story and represents an individual mourned by family and friends. This is an experience hard to describe, but never to be forgotten.
Cathedral City’s Healing Field® 14h annual display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or by making a donation.
We invite all to visit the Healing Field® display and walk with us among the posted flags. The display is open to all without charge. Don’t miss it!
