November 11th to December 6th, 2019
Norwich Free Academy, 305 Broadway, Norwich, CT 06360
The lawns and stately buildings of the community-based Norwich Free Academy, familiarly known by its initials FSA, provide an exceptional setting for the school’s 3rd Annual Field of Honor® flag display. The adjective exceptional applies not just to the beautiful location but to the school itself, its students and the Supporting Our Servicemen & Women Club (SOS Club). The Club leads the yearly effort, which pays tribute to those who have worn and now wear the uniforms of the United States Armed Forces. Beginning on Veterans Day, the solemn formation of 200 U.S. flags honors the men and women who have honored the Stars & Stripes by their service and sacrifice.
There are, therefore, layers of the exceptional to be found at the Norwich Field of Honor® flag display: exceptional site, exceptional school and exceptional students all joining together to honor the veterans and active duty military members who protect and defend our exceptional land.
The SOS Club’s name clearly describes its purpose, and the Field of Honor® flag formation dovetails perfectly with the club’s goals. This unforgettable event is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers.
All are invited to visit this Field of Honor® display and walk among the posted flags. The display must be experienced to be fully appreciated. There is no charge to visit the Field of Honor® display. Please come and bring your family & friends.
