Jamaica Riding Academy, 7000 Shore Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11234
Although found in the second most densely populated county in the country, Brooklyn offers an unexpected sanctuary that benefits not only Kings County but also the other boroughs of New York. With beautifully wooded bridle paths the Jamaica Bay Riding Academy presents a welcome respite from the stresses of urban life, which makes this the ideal site for the programs of the Metropolitan Equestrian Team.
Having experienced the value that horseback riding offers to youth, MET provides young aspiring New York athletes in grades 3-12 with the opportunity to participate in horseback riding as part of the MET Team. Youth learn not only horsemanship and athleticism but leadership skills, the value of teamwork and responsibility.
Picturesquely situated at the base of Island, the Riding Academy is an ideal setting for a Field of Honor® display of the Stars & Stripes, and MET has begun what promises to be a new tradition as they line the Parkway with flags on Veterans Day.
For of $50, each dedicated flag will be posted on the on the roadway leading to the Jamaica Bay Riding Club honoring a member of the armed forces, a veteran, a first responder, a teacher or another personal hero. Each flag represents an individual and tells a story.
Information about the Metropolitan Equestrian Team and its programs available on the website at the link:
www.metropolitanequestrianteam.org
Each sponsored flag will include a tag bearing the name of the sponsor and the honoree.
The Metropolitan Equestrian Team’s Field of Honor ® display is a gift to the area communities made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or making a donation.
This is an experience hard to describe, but not to be forgotten. We invite all to visit Brooklyn’s Field of Honor® display and walk among the posted flags on Veterans Day. The display is open to all without charge. Don’t miss it!
