During the days surrounding Labor Day, the Shelby County Historical Society will host the Sidney 2015 Field of Honor® posting a thousand U.S. flags in a solemn formation at Custenborder Field. This inspiring display honors our military, veterans and first responders who have struggled through our nation’s history to protect and defend our nation.Part of the Museum’s Year of Valor, this inspiring display honors the men and women who have defended our nation in six wars which share anniversaries in 2015. It is 240 years since the beginning of the American Revolution; 150 years since the end of the Civil War; 70 years since the end of World War II; 65 years since the beginning of the Korean War; 40 years since the end of the Vietnam War; and 20 years since Desert Storm.  These anniversaries make it clear that defending freedom continues generation after generation.
There is no charge to visit the Field of Heroes®; however, those wishing to support the display may purchase flags that will then be flown to honor designated heroes. Proceeds from the flag sales make this touching flag display possible and benefits the Shelby County Historical Society as they bring the Vietnam Moving Wall memorial back to Shelby County.

Online flag sponsorships have been discontinued for this year.
Thank you for your support!
