The lawns running along Utica’s Memorial Parkway will again provide the setting for the 3rd Annual Utica Healing Field® display of the Stars and Stripes. Hosted by the Good News Foundation of Central New York, the dramatic formation of 3 by 5 foot flags will fly from 7½ foot white poles in tribute to families, which are strengthened by the programs of the Good News Center of Utica. The scene of red, white and blue flags flying against the blue sky will present a memorable panorama that will again draw the community together.

REMEMBERING VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES WITH FLAGS FOR HEROES

The Good News Foundation’s 3rd Annual Flags for Heroes ceremony took place Saturday at the Utica Parkway Center. Veterans were remembered for the sacrifices they made with one thousand full sized American flags displayed on the median of the Utica Memorial Parkway. The flags are being displayed between November 4th and November 12th.

Walking row by row, Sara Reale searched for the flag bearing her grandfather’s name. Surrounded by red, white and blue, Reale found what she was looking for and paused at the flag bearing Leonard Grassi’s name. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II.
