25 Years Later, We Remember. We Honor. We Will Never Forget.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation.

At Tempe Beach Park, 2,996 United States flags will fly in solemn formation, each representing an innocent life lost in the terrorist attacks. Behind every flag was a person with a name, a family, a story, and a life that mattered.

They were men, women, and children. Civilians and military personnel. Office workers, travelers, airline crews, and tourists. And among them were the courageous first responders who gave their lives trying to save others.

As you walk among the flags, thousands of individual stories become real. The field invites us to pause, remember, and reflect—not only on the lives lost, but on the freedoms we share and the sacrifices made to protect them.

Freedom isn’t free.

The American flag reminds us that, despite our differences—no matter who we are, where we come from, or what we believe—we are united as Americans. One nation. One flag. One shared commitment to remember.

For 18 years, the Tempe Exchange Club has brought the Healing Field® to the community as a place of remembrance, reflection, and healing. This 25th anniversary is a particularly meaningful opportunity to come together and ensure the stories of September 11 are never forgotten.
