Located 9 miles north of downtown Boston, the Town of Stoneham brings their sixth annual Field of Honor® to the greater metro area.
During the days surrounding Veterans Day, a stunning display of United States flags will stand posted in ordered rows and columns. This beautiful display of the Stars and Stripes honors our military, first responders and veterans with special remembrance of those who gave their lives in defense of freedom. Each flag may be dedicated to an individual who honored Old Glory through the dedicated service and sacrifice.
There is a story behind each posted flag. These men and women have become our heroes, and they deserve to be honored and always remembered. Proceeds will go to support the Stoneham Veterans Assistance Fund helping veterans who are residents of Stoneham who demonstrate financial hardship. The Veterans Assistance Fund is funded by the community and is awarded on a case by case basis. This fund provides a temporary/emergency solution to help veterans who are in a dire financial need to assist them through a financial crisis.
The public is invited to visit this free display and reflect on the honorees’ stories. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for those wishing to dedicate flags to their heroes. A very special addition this year is the Vietnam Moving Wall, which will be available for viewing from November 13-16th at the field. Open 24/7. Taps will be played daily at 5 p.m.
This is a display that must be experienced to be fully appreciated. The Field of Honor® display is a gift made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or by making a donation. There is no charge to visit the Field of Honor® display, and all are invited to share this inspirational experience.
