September 9th-12th

A growing and progressive city, Sandy has become synonymous with Colonial Flag Foundation’s Healing Field® flag display events.  The Sandy City Promenade provides an ideal location that could not have been laid out better for the annual display.

Originating in Sandy on the first anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, the Utah Healing Field® flag display inspired other communities to host their own Healing Field® or Field of Honor® Flag Displays all across the nation.

Throughout the years, Sandy City has supported the succession of inspirational flag displays that draws Utahns to the lawns south of their City Hall for September days surrounding  Patriot Day.

2022 Beneficiary: Sandy Gold Star Families Monument

The Gold Star Families Monuments are dedicated to honor, recognize, and serve Gold Star Families and the legacy of their loved ones who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments are established by The Woody Williams Foundation, founded by Hershel “Woody” Williams, the last living recipient of the Medal of Honor from World War II, and who recently passed away in June 2022. Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments are a two-sided, four-panel monument made of black granite. One side reads, “Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, a tribute to Gold Star Families and Relatives who sacrificed a loved one for our freedom.” On the other side, there are scenes etched on each panel: Homeland (Sandy City), Family, Patriot, and Sacrifice. At the center of the panels is a silhouette of a service member saluting, which represents the legacy of the loved ones who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Gold Star Families Foundation is hoping to raise $20,000 from community members and local businesses.
Support their efforts by sponsoring a flag today.

The Monument is expected to be finished by September 25th, 2022 (Gold Star Mothers & Family Day).

Thank You

The Sandy Prominade was created years before the first Healing Field® display of 2002. However, the grassy lawn of the two blocks immediately south of Sandy City Hall could not have been better laid out to accommodate the nations first and original Healing Field® event. Likewise, the Sandy City government (https://bit.ly/2LqCXNM) could not be more supportive of the amazing panorama of flags.
