November 10th to 17th, 2019
Mariposa County Museum and History Center, 5119 Jessie Street, Mariposa, CA 95325
According to tradition, a Spanish Father found a creek swarming with thousands of yellow butterflies, and he named the area Mariposa from the Spanish word for butterfly. During the Gold Rush, 49ers swarmed area streams looking not for yellow butterflies but for yellow flakes of gold. The gold may have played out, but the Mariposa today is the gateway to the Yosemite Valley, an amazing natural treasure. The Mariposa County Museum and History Center, one of the benefiting charities of the 5th Annual Field of Honor® event, provides the appropriate setting for a display of United States Flags that creates a memorable experience for local residents and visitors to the National Park. Begun five years ago as a 4-H Citizenship Project, the Mariposa Field of Honor® display of United States Flags
The event is the perfect opportunity for all of us to remember and honor those who have become our heroes. It is an experience hard to describe, but never to be forgotten. We invite all to visit the Mariposa Healing Field® display and walk with us among the posted flags.
The Mariposa Healing Field® display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or making a donation. Check with members of the local organizing committee to learn how you can become a part of this amazing event.
The display is open to all without charge. Don’t miss it!
