Hanover, PA ~ Healing Field® 2026

September 11September 18

2000 Baltimore Pike ,

From September 11 through September 28th, the Town of Hanover will be transformed into sacred ground as 3,000 American flags rise in solemn formation at West Manheim Elementary School. In observance of the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, and as part of the nationwide America 250 commemoration, this powerful field of red, white, and blue will stand as a living tribute to the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the enduring spirit of our nation.

Each flag will stand tall against the late summer sky — not merely as fabric and color, but as a symbol of remembrance, resilience, and unity. The 3,000 flags honor the innocent men, women, and children who perished on 9/11, as well as the first responders, service members, and countless patriots who stepped forward in the days and years that followed. Every flag tells a story. Every flag represents sacrifice. Every flag reminds us that freedom endures because courage rises to defend it.

As Hanover joins communities across the country in marking America’s 250th anniversary, visitors will also experience a compelling educational exhibit that tells the story of a country tested by adversity, strengthened by sacrifice, and sustained by generations committed to liberty.

This is more than a display — it is a call to remember, to reflect, and to renew our shared commitment to the ideals that bind us together.

Community members are invited to participate by sponsoring a flag, dedicating a tribute, or making a donation. Individuals and families may purchase and dedicate an American flag for $30 in honor of a loved one, a first responder, a veteran, or a victim of 9/11. Each dedication ensures that a name, a story, and a legacy are honored in this powerful memorial. Proceeds from the Healing Field® will benefit First Responders scholarship programs as well as the causes supported by the Hanover National Exchange Club.

We invite everyone to walk among the flags throughout the display period. The exhibit is open to all and free to visit. Come stand beneath the red, white, and blue. Come reflect on where we were — and how far we have come. Come give thanks for the heroes among us. And together, as we approach America’s 250th birthday, let us remember that freedom is never free — it is defended by the brave, sustained by unity, and carried forward by each generation.
