Event Details
Picturesque and historically situated on the North Fork of Long Island, the village is an ideal setting for a Field of Honor® display of the Stars & Stripes, and the Rotary Club of Greenport has begun what promises to be a new tradition as they have filled Mitchell Park with flags on Flag Day.
For an annual subscription of $50, each dedicated flag will be posted on the waterfront 5 times during the year honoring a member of the armed forces, a veteran, a first responder, a teacher or another personal hero. Each flag represents an individual and tells a story. This year, Memorial Day and Flag Day have passed, and due to an overwhelming response on Flag Day, the Rotary Club will order more flags for the displays on Independence Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day.
Subscriptions may be purchased at the Greenport Rotary Club’s website at the link:
https://greenportrotary.net/
Each sponsored flag will include a tag bearing the name of the sponsor and the honoree.
The Greenport Field of Honor ® display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or making a donation.
This is an experience hard to describe, but not to be forgotten. We invite all to visit the Greenport Field of Honor® display and walk among the posted flags on Independence Day. The display is open to all without charge. Don’t miss it!
