The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 118, proudly present the 20th Annual Cohasset Healing Field® of Honor flag display, held in solemn remembrance of Memorial Day from May 23 to June 1, 2026.
This year’s Healing Field® is especially meaningful as we gather not only to mark two decades of this powerful community tradition, but also to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary — a historic milestone in our nation’s journey with 600 U.S. flags flying in formation. Together, as one community, we will honor the legacy of freedom, sacrifice, and unity that has defined our country for two and a half centuries. The sight of hundreds of American flags waving proudly will stand as a breathtaking tribute to those who have defended the ideals upon which our nation was founded.
Through the unwavering generosity of local merchants, individual sponsors, and our dedicated team of volunteers, each year’s Healing Field® of Honor and Memorial Day observance becomes a memorable and moving tribute. Community members are invited to sponsor a flag in honor of veterans who selflessly defended our American values and freedoms. Each flagpole may bear the name, rank, and branch of service of a veteran or loved one, with the option to include a personal sentiment.
We deeply value the American flag for everything it represents: peace, security, liberty, family, friends, and home. As we honor it, we remember that it also symbolizes responsibility and service. Every glory connected to it reflects duty fulfilled. Every honor associated with the flag is rooted in the commitment and sacrifice of those who served.
The American Legion Honor Guard and Color Guard pay heartfelt tribute to veterans at ceremonies and funerals throughout our community. Through raffles of hams, roasts, and turkeys, along with the sale of the finest lobster rolls on the South Shore, we raise funds to support veterans’ causes and scholarships. The Healing Field® of Honor stands as our premier fundraiser, with all proceeds benefiting local veterans and the greater community.
As we commemorate our 20th year and celebrate 250 years of American independence, we invite you to walk among the flags, reflect on the sacrifices made for our freedoms, and stand united in gratitude and pride.
This inspiring event is free to the public — we hope you will join us.
