Please join us for our special 9/11 ceremony
Each year since the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11th of 2001, a massive display of United States flags has flown at the Sandy City Promenade to honor each of the nearly three thousand victims killed that day. Visitors experience a sense of healing that gave the tradition a name, the Utah Healing Field® display.
Now sixteen years later, though memories fade, the need for healing continues with the theme “United in Hope and Healing,” and 3,000 posted flags will still honor and remember those who died on that day when terrorists commandeered airliners which crashed in the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a grassy field in Pennsylvania.
Utah Healing Field’s massive posting of U.S. flags, the nation’s original Healing Field®, commemorates that a decade and a half have passed since commandeered airliners crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a grassy field in the Pennsylvania countryside. Thus, transpired a horrific event that all thought the nation and the world could never forget.
The 16th Annual Utah Healing Field will—in addition to creating a magnificent panorama of red, white & blue—raise money to benefit the Nation Alliance on Mental Illness, NAMI Utah, which brings hope and healing to those who need them desperately. NAMI Utah is the state’s voice on mental illness, including suicide prevention.
NAMI Utah’s mission is to ensure the dignity and improve the lives of those who live with mental illness and their families through support, education and advocacy.
Due in large part to generous individual, corporate, and foundation donations, NAMI Utah is able to build on its success and continue to focus on three cornerstones of activity that offer hope, help, and healing to our communities: Support, Education, and Advocacy.
Support of Utah’s 16th Annual Healing Field® display will draw our communities together as we unite in our efforts to prevent suicides by bringing hope and healing.
