Since 2008, beginning on September 11th through November 11th of 2025, Fayetteville’s Cool Spring Downtown District will join with the Airborne and Special Forces Museum Foundation to make possible a inspiring display of 560 U.S. flags flying on the museum’s parade grounds.
Recognizing heroes is a Greenville tradition that goes back to the city’s naming in 1786. General Nathaniel Greene emerged from the American Revolution as the hero of the Carolinas, Georgia and Virginia, and when he died in 1786, Greenville was named in his honor.
