Beginning May 11th, the Town of Vinton hosts an awe-inspiring panorama of 300 United States flags flying in a solemn formation at the Vinton War Memorial. This stirring display of flags will unite the community in a patriotic tribute to honor our fallen heroes within our First Responder and Military communities. Each U.S. flag represents an individual and tells a story. Flags may be dedicated to honor individuals in your community. This unique event is the perfect opportunity for all of us to remember and honor our many heroes.
The Stars & Stripes reminds us of who we are as a people. Americans meet the challenges of history and overcome hardships, becoming stronger. That is just who we are. The United States flag represents our solidarity in creating a brighter tomorrow and uniting us all.
You can show your support and gratitude by becoming a sponsor, dedicating a flag, or donating.
The Field of Honor: Our Fallen Heroes is an experience hard to describe, but never to be forgotten. We invite all to visit the Vinton Field of Honor® patriotic display and walk with us among the posted flags.
The display is open to all free of charge. Don’t miss it!
Volunteers are needed to help assemble flags on flag poles which will be displayed on the Vinton War Memorial lawn. Volunteers should report to the Vinton War Memorial at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 9th. Lunch will be provided. Please contact Mandy Adkins madkins@vinton.gov to sign up!
