From September 13th to October 25th this year, the Greenville Noon Rotary Club will host its 7th Field of Heroes Field of Honor® event. This gathering brings together organizers, volunteers, and visitors to recognize, remember, and honor our heroes. The greatness of America is shaped by the countless acts of those who have become personal heroes.
Honoring heroes is a longstanding tradition in Greenville, dating back to the city’s founding in 1786. General Nathaniel Greene emerged from the American Revolution as a hero for the Carolinas, Georgia, and Virginia. Upon his passing in 1786, the city was named in his honor. Over the years, countless heroes have shaped our city, state, and nation. The Greenville Noon Rotary understands the importance of honoring these individuals so that their deeds are not forgotten. What better way to honor our heroes than by displaying the Stars and Stripes, where their heroism contributes to the flag’s meaning.
While our military and veterans often come to mind, heroes can be found in many forms. Men and women who defend our nation on distant battlefields have earned our gratitude, alongside a long list of heroes that includes police officers, firefighters, paramedics, teachers, and mentors. The Greenville Field of Honor® display is a gift to the greater Greenville community, made possible by the efforts of dedicated volunteers. Please support this worthy event by donating, dedicating a flag in tribute to your hero, or volunteering to help.
The Field of Heroes Field of Honor® display is open for public viewing at no charge, so bring your families and friends. This is an experience that is difficult to describe but unforgettable. Don’t miss it!
