Celebrate the spirit of America, honor those who have served, and experience a powerful visual tribute at the Calais inaugural Field of Honor™—a breathtaking patriotic display of 250 American flags set against the serene beauty of Keene’s Lake Family Campground in Calais, Maine.
From June 19 through July 5, the campground’s picturesque lakeside grounds will be transformed into a moving landscape of red, white, and blue, commemorating America’s 250th anniversary. Each flag will stand tall not only as a symbol of our nation’s enduring strength, but as a personal tribute to the individuals whose service, sacrifice, and resilience have shaped our freedoms.
This special event invites the community to come together in reflection, gratitude, and unity. As you walk among the flags, you’ll be reminded that every flag tells a story—a story of courage, dedication, and love of country. These stories represent the countless men and women who have faced adversity and challenges to preserve our way of life.
Visitors are encouraged to participate by dedicating a flag in honor of a personal hero—a veteran, active service member, or loved one whose legacy deserves to be remembered. Through these dedications, the Field of Honor becomes not just a display, but a deeply personal and collective expression of appreciation.
Hosted by Keene’s Lake Family Campground, this event is designed to foster connection, reflection, and pride within the community. It serves as a meaningful opportunity to pause and recognize the freedoms we enjoy today because of those who came before us.
All proceeds from flag dedications will support the Calais Veteran’s Center, helping provide resources and care for local veterans who have given so much.
The event is open to the public and free of charge, welcoming individuals, families, and visitors of all ages. Whether you come for a quiet walk, a moment of remembrance, or to share the experience with loved ones, the Field of Honor offers a powerful and inspiring setting.
Join us in honoring our heroes, celebrating our heritage, and reflecting on the values that unite us. Come walk among the flags—and be part of a tribute that reminds us all of the true cost and enduring gift of freedom.
