America 250 Logo Flag White

Creating an awe-inspiring panorama, the Bluefield, Virginia Lions Club will present a 2026 “Field of Honor” to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our great country and the heroes in our lives. The event will showcase American flags flying in solemn formation in three distinct places:Jack Asbury Square (downtown), the grassy area surrounding the water fountain near Walmart, and the field adjacent to Bluefield University near Stadium Drive. Taking place between July 1- July 10,

The Stars and Stripes remind us of who we are as a people. Americans overcome hardships together and become stronger in the process. The United States flag represents our solidarity in creating a brighter tomorrow.

This inspirational display of flags is designed to bring the community together in a patriotic tribute to our heroes and our American freedom! Most flags will have a flag tag attached, which represents a hero and tells a story. Flags may be purchased to honor active-duty military, fallen service men and women, first responders, all veterans, hometown heroes, and personal heroes.

This moving display is a gift to the community from the Bluefield, Virginia Lions Club and is made possible by donations, flag purchases, event sponsorships, and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by purchasing an American flag(s), making a donation, or becoming a community supporter. Proceeds from this event will be used to provide grants for non-profit projects of the Lions Club and other local causes.

In honor of “America 250,” we are excited to display the 26 versions of the American flag that have flown at different times during our nation’s 250 year history. This flag display will be located at the historic Sanders House in Bluefield, Virginia. Each flag will include a description of when the flag was used and what the design of the flag symbolizes. This display is a unique opportunity for community education about our nation’s history.

The Bluefield, Virginia Lions Club “Field of Honor” will be an experience that will not be forgotten. We invite everyone to visit our patriotic display and walk with us among the posted flags. This event is free and open to all! Don’t miss it!
