The Oswego Healing Field® display of the Stars and Stripes is a central part of a seven daylong event honoring our nation’s veterans, which will also bring The Moving Wall™ — a half-size replica of the Vietnam Memorial. “All Gave Some—Some Gave All” is a motto that recognizes the enormous sacrifice of United States veterans encouraging us to honor them and to remember their service. Oswego residents take this responsibility seriously as they produce an event worthy of the men and women who have sacrificed and died to preserve our freedom.
While there is no charge to visit this unforgettable display, the event may be supported by sponsoring a flag to honor individuals. Walk with us through the moving thousands of U.S. flags that will draw the Oswego Community together in an awe-inspiring tribute to America’s veterans.

The Moving Wall arrived in west suburban Oswego on Thursday to open arms. It’s a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial, travelling the country each year. Oswego went further, putting up more than 2,000 American flags in a “Healing Field.” Many are dedicated to fallen heroes- some that passersby recognize.
‘This is good therapy’: Veterans reflect as Vietnam Moving Wall comes to Oswego

“It’s a great day in Oswego,” Navy veteran Herschel Luckinbill said Thursday as the Vietnam Moving Wall came into town to be set up. As part of the memorial, 2,017 American flags were erected as a “Healing Field.” People were able to purchase a flag and have a placard attached in memory of a loved one.

In conjunction with the Vietnam Moving Wall arriving in Oswego this summer, residents may order Healing Field flags that will fly on the grounds over the five-day event. The flags that are available for purchase will fly in remembrance of a veteran, honoring a current serviceman or simply serve as a way of saying thank you to the military for protecting our freedoms.

After well over a year of planning, final preparations are underway for the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall to arrive in Oswego this week. “Oswego is truly honored to have the privilege of hosting the Moving Wall. It will be a time to remember, reflect and honor those who served in Vietnam,” Oswego Village President Gail Johnson said.
