Field of FlagsHealing Fields of HonorCathedral City Rotary Club continues their tradition with their 12th Annual Healing Field® flag memorial at Patriot Park.  Everyone is invited to visit the Healing Field® display of flags during the week of Veterans Day, November 5th through the 12th to remember and honor our Fallen Heroes and our Home Town Heroes.  Visitors will once again have the opportunity to walk amid thousands of flags displayed in an inspiring formation. The funds raised through the Healing Field® display will benefit the charities of the Cathedral City Rotary Club.

There will be no charge to visit the Healing Field® display, and all are invited to walk with us among the sea of red, white and blue in an event that will draw the community together in a memorable experience. Please support the Cathedral City Rotary Club by sponsoring flags, volunteering to help and especially by visiting this impressive display of our national flag.  This is a tradition not to be missed, and all who visit will never forget.

Cathedral City’s annual healing field, with more than 6,000 American flags placed in honor of the men and women in uniform who have paid the ultimate sacrifice since Sept. 11, 2001, is open to visitors until noon Sunday at Big League Dreams Sports Park, at the corner of Date Palm and Dinah Shore drives, Cathedral City.

Saturday is also the last day to attend the Rotary Club of Cathedral City’s Healing Field, an annual tribute to fallen soldiers in Patriot Park, 33998 Date Palm Dr. More than 5,000 flags bearing the name, age, rank and branch of people who have died while serving in the military since Sept. 11, 2001, are placed in the park. Volunteers remove the flags after the closing ceremony, which is scheduled for noon.

Leo Gold has traveled far and wide in his lifetime. “I’ve been all over the United States, but I’ve been all over the south Pacific also,” Gold said. The 95-year-old World War 2 veteran spent four years in the U.S. Army. But Sunday, you’d find him at Cathedral City’s Patriot Park, paying respects to his fallen brothers and sisters in arms.
