Field of Flags

Hundreds of U.S. flags will stand in a solemn formation on the baseball field at South Asheboro Middle School as the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce join forces with the Asheville Rotary Club in hosting Asheboro’s 3rd Annual Field of Honor® display of the Stars and Stripes.

The Veterans Day observance this year is the centennial anniversary of the Armistice signed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, which ended the Great War that we now know as World War I. In the United States, Armistice Day has become Veterans Day to honor the veterans of all our wars, and around the world Armistice Day is observed as Remembrance Sunday on the Sunday closest to November 11th each year. As Veterans Day falls on Sunday this year, both observance coincide on the 100th anniversary of 1918’s Armistice.

Healing Fields of Honor

Each flag flown in the Asheboro Field of Honor® display represents an individual and tells a story. Flags may be sponsored to honor individuals. The event is the perfect opportunity for all of us to remember and honor those who served to protect our nation and our community. The funds raised will benefit the charitable programs of the Rotary Club of Asheboro & Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce.

The Asheboro Field of Honor® display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or making a donation.

The display is open to all without charge, and we invite all to visit the Asheboro Healing Field® display and walk with us among the posted flags. This is an experience that is not to be missed.
