Field of FlagsCathedral City Rotary Club’s tradition continues as members hosts their 13th Annual Healing Field® flag memorial at Patriot Park. The panorama of flags honors America’s fallen in Afghanistan and Iraq who have given their lives in the fight against terrorism since 9/11 of 2001. Thousands of U.S. flags will again form an inspiring formation at Patriot Park during the week surrounding Veterans Day.

Cathedral City’s Field of Honor® display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or by making a donation.

This is an experience hard to describe, but never to be forgotten. We invite all to visit the Field of Honor® display and walk with us among the posted flags. The display is open to all without charge. Don’t miss it!

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – Families and volunteers gathered at Patriot Park in Cathedral City on Saturday for a closing ceremony honoring our valley’s veterans. Over 5,000 flags have lined the park as part of the annual tradition during the week of Veteran’s Day, in what has become known as “the Healing Field.”

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif.- – Volunteers are being sought to assist with the closing ceremony of the week-long Healing Field event at Cathedral City’s Patriot Park, which honored thousands of veterans who died serving their country.

Cathedral City’s annual healing field, with more than 6,000 American flags placed in honor of the men and women in uniform who have paid the ultimate sacrifice since Sept. 11, 2001, is open to visitors until noon Sunday at Big League Dreams Sports Park, at the corner of Date Palm and Dinah Shore drives, Cathedral City.

Saturday is also the last day to attend the Rotary Club of Cathedral City’s Healing Field, an annual tribute to fallen soldiers in Patriot Park, 33998 Date Palm Dr. More than 5,000 flags bearing the name, age, rank and branch of people who have died while serving in the military since Sept. 11, 2001, are placed in the park. Volunteers remove the flags after the closing ceremony, which is scheduled for noon.

Leo Gold has traveled far and wide in his lifetime. “I’ve been all over the United States, but I’ve been all over the south Pacific also,” Gold said. The 95-year-old World War 2 veteran spent four years in the U.S. Army. But Sunday, you’d find him at Cathedral City’s Patriot Park, paying respects to his fallen brothers and sisters in arms.
