COMPLETED ON MARCH 22, 2004

Soldier's Coalition Healing Field
Sponsored by the Blue Star Mothers of America, Utah Chapter

March 18 - 22 Commemorating the one year anniversary of the war in Iraq.

To commemorate the one year anniversary since U.S. forces entered Iraq, the Utah Blue Star Mothers set up a Healing Field of American and foreign flags on the west end of Utah Valley State College on Thursday evening to remember those who have died since the attacks of 9/11.

Members of the BYU and UVSC Army ROTC posted enough flags on the grass to represent each life lost from the coalition forces since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in 2001, and at 5:30 p.m. Thursday a combination of mothers, veterans, soldiers and other supporters read the names of all 720 men and women.

The flags will stay on UVSC's southwest field until Monday at 4 p.m. Candace Chilcot, the president of the Utah chapter of Blue Star Mothers, a national nonprofit organization for military mothers, said she hopes members of the community will be able to come by the field to pay their respects. Bring your cameras, it's a beautiful site and a healing experience.
