Did you know that there were 1,669 cases of child abuse reported in Ft. Bend County last year?
During April 2005, Child Abuse Prevention Month, The Exchange Club of Sugar Land www.ecsl.org will create a Child Abuse Healing Field of over 1,500 3’ x 5’ American flags. The flags will represent the reported cases of child abuse in Ft. Bend County during 2004.
The
money raised from the sale of the flags will be donated to Child Abuse
Prevention Agencies including the Exchange Club supported ESCAPE Family Resource Center. www.escapefrc.org
We are asking for your help by sponsoring flags for the Healing Field at $25.00 each.
The Light of Hope community candle lighting event presented by Friends of Child Advocates of Fort Bend County and The Exchange Club of Sugar Land will take place on Friday, April 1, 2005. Family activities will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Sugar Land Town Square. Mayor David Wallace will be Master of Ceremonies for the candle lighting at 6:30 in front of City Hall. Some flags will be posted that evening in the field between Methodist Hospital and First Colony Mall.
The
remaining flags will be posted on Saturday beginning with a ceremony at
10:00 a.m. You may post your own sponsored flag if you wish. The Healing Field will remain standing for one week.
Sponsored flags must be picked up on Sunday, April 10th between 12:00-5:00 p.m. Unclaimed flags will be donated to the Boy Scouts of America.
