A field of red, white and blue will stand in Sugar Land as a tribute and honor to the more than 1500 victims of child abuse reported in Ft. Bend County in 2004.

The Sugar Land Exchange Club is taking on this project to express the enormity of child abuse in our country.

These are "America's" Children.  This is America's responsibility. Each 3x5' American flag will stand on 8 foot tall poles in rows and columns similar to Arlington Cemetery. 

The event is free to the public and the flags are available for sponsorship.  Sponsor it, own it, take it home and continue the patriotic tribute to America's children.  All proceeds from the flag sales and sponsorships will be donated to various local Child Abuse Prevention Agencies, including the Exchange Club sponsored ESCAPE Family Resource Center

This is terrorism in our own homes, of the most vulnerable of victims.  It is Americans, killing Americans.  We lose more children in one year to child abuse than we have lost in American lives in almost 3 years in the war on terrorism.

The Healing Field is a beautiful tribute to an ugly problem and a unique opportunity to raise public awareness regarding the tragedy of child abuse, and the revenue will allow the Exchange Club to expand their services.

Event Details

• The display will be located along the Southwest Freeway in the field between Methodist Hospital and First Colony Mall.
  
• The event will be held April 2 - April 10, 2005 with opening ceremony to be held on April 1 at 6:30 PM.

• 1,500 flags will be flown, representing the number of reported cases of child abuse in Ft. Bend County in 2004.
