Healing Field in Gresham Oregon
The community of Gresham Oregon hosted a Healing Field sponsored by Boeing and Boyd Coffee Co. (see article)
Kelley Broomall, Boeing employee and former marine spear headed
the efforts to bring the field to Gresham and found allies in Gresham
Mayor Charles Becker, developer Fred Bruning and the National Guard in
Salem.
Broomall found an ideal location on a farm owned
by Mike Townsend who caught the vision. He said, “There are 10 acres
you can take and we’ll help you make it happen.” The site is located on
the field which is at Microchip 21015 SE Stark. (See PDF)

LOCAL CHARITIES REAP BIG BENEFITS
AS A RESULT OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT
OF “PATRIOT DAY”
________________________________________________________________________________
Between September 11-14, 2003, Tribute to Honor, in partnership with Kelly Broomall and a small group of other local sponsors and supporters, presented Patriot Day.
Patriot Day was created to memorialize and honor the men and women who tragically lost their lives on September 11, 2001 as well as those who have died since in the fight against global terrorism.
During the four days, more than three thousand flags flew across nearly 25 acres adjacent to Microchip Technologies in Gresham. Each flag represented a victim of 9/11 and the subsequent battle.
Approximately 75,000 visitors came to participate in Patriot Day, honoring those heroes. And over four days, the 75,000 visitors purchased more than five thousand flags as mementos of the event and as reminders of the momentous day.
As a result of the tremendous support of the community, Tribute to Honor, Kelly
Broomall, and the other sponsors and supporters of Patriot Day are very
much pleased to announce donations to the organizations shown in the approximate amounts listed.
Air National Guard Relief Fund (Oregon) $34,000
Tribute to Honor (Oregon) $29,500
The Flag of Honor Fund (Connecticut) $12,000
Snow Cap (Multnomah County) $ 8,500
Tribute to Honor, founded in late 2001 by three officers of the Portland Police Bureau, is an all-volunteer organization of police and fire personnel and other dedicated citizens. The mission of Tribute to Honor is to recognize the vital work and extraordinary commitment of police and fire personnel and to raise funds that, when necessary, can be used to aid the families of these outstanding men and women when they are critically-injured or killed in the line of duty.
