The Exchange Club of Sugar Land to create a
Child Abuse Healing Field of over 1,500 3’ x 5’ American flags
Who: The Exchange Club of Sugar Land, a Community Service Organization,
along with businesses, schools, churches and the general public will sponsor flags
to create a Child Abuse Healing Field.
What: The Healing Field will consist of over 1,500 3’x5’ American Flags representing the
number of reported cases of child abuse in Fort Bend County in 2004.
Where: The Healing Field will be highly visible along the Southwest Freeway,
in the field between Methodist Hospital and The First Colony Mall,
(Rt. 59 between Rt. 6 and Sugar Creek Blvd., Sugar Land, TX)
When: April 1-10, 2005
Friday, April 1, 6:30 p.m. “Light of Hope” ceremony presented by Child
Advocates of Ft. Bend in front of Sugar Land City Hall, 2700 Town Center
Boulevard North, Sugar Land, TX.
Saturday, April 2, 10:00 a.m., “Field Dedication” ceremony and posting of
flags in the field adjacent to Methodist Hospital.
Sunday, April 10, 12:00-5:00 p.m. “Flag pick-up” Sponsors must claim flags at
the field. Unclaimed flags will be donated to the Boy Scouts of America.
Why: The flags will create awareness of the over 1,500 reported cases of child abuse in
Ft. Bend County in 2004. The money raised from flag sponsorships will be donated
to local Child Abuse Prevention Agencies.
