Memorial Day Weekend, May 25—28, 2012—Jackson Township Safety Center at Corner of Fulton Road NW and Wales Road NW, Massillon, Ohio.

In May volunteers from our local area will gather to post hundreds of United States flags for Jackson Township’s Field of Honor / Field of Heroes display which will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Jackson Township in collaboration with the Jackson-Belden Chamber of Commerce, the Community of Jackson Township, the Jackson Township Police Department, the Jackson Township Fire Department and the Jackson Township Local Schools. This sea of red, white and blue waving in the breeze is a tribute to honor the personal heroes of our community members whoever they are…a family member, a friend, a veteran, a member of the armed forces, a favorite teacher, a coach, a mentor, a medical professional, a first responder or any other person who has made an impact on our lives.

Please join us as we walk amid the ordered rows of Old Glory where each full-sized flag waves atop an eight foot white staff in a stirring formation. Standing amid the flags, we remember and reflect in a salute of the living to those who paid the ultimate price defending our nation and our way of life, those who have died in the line of duty and those who have forever impacted our lives in a profound and positive manner as a personal hero to us.

All flags will remain on display until the end of the event when they will be available for pickup or to be shipped to the flag’s sponsor. Spread through our community, these sponsored Field of Honor® flags can then continue to be displayed as tangible reminders of Jackson Township’s Field of Heroes.

I am purchasing a flag in honor of my father, who lost his arm in WWII. Received a Purple Heart along with other medals, and our son who has 20 years in the Military. He is also a State Trooper. This is a great thing you are doing.

Thank you for giving me and my family the opportunity to honor our father and husband, Grant Vaughan. Mom was thrilled with the event and may even be on TV after being interviewed.
My mom is a WWII bride, coming from England. We all miss our Dad extremely. Thank you again for this wonderful event.
