Field of Flags

3rd Annual Field of Honor – July 1, 2018 – July 7, 2018

Beginning July 1st, the Exchange Club of Daniel Island will proudly host their 3nd annual Field of Honor® display of U.S. flags. The Stars and Stripes will stand posted in a memorable display of red, white and blue on the grassy lawn of River Landing Drive.  500 full sized flags will fly on seven and a half foot flagpoles to honor your heroes including military, veterans, first responders, teachers and home town heroes.

The Daniel Island display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or making a donation HERE .  For $25 per flag you can honor individuals who, through their service and sacrifice, have become heroes in your life.  If you prefer, stop by our onsite sales tent to place your order in person. The onsite sales tent will be located at the “Field of Honor®” on River Landing Drive and is scheduled as follows:

  • Monday, July 2nd, 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM – *Coincides with Red Cross Blood Drive
  • Tuesday, July 3rd, 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM
  • Wednesday, July 4th, 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM

Flag sponsors may pick-up their sponsored flags to keep and display as a memento of this year’s event or the flags may be donated back to the Exchange Club for use next year.  Pick up time is Sunday July 8th between 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the “Field of Honor®” site.

*GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE AT THE FIELD OF HONOR®.  Again this year, the Red Cross Bloodmobile will be part of the Field of Honor®.  In cooperation with the Red Cross and Simmons Park Apartments, the Bloodmobile will be located on River Landing Dr., July 2nd from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Please call 1-800-733-2767 or visit www.redcrossblood.org and click FIND DRIVE to schedule an appointment. Appointments are suggested and appreciated.

  • The programs of One80 Place help prevent homelessness one person at time, one family at a time. One80 Place works with men, women, families and Veterans to ensure they have a chance to begin again.
  • Fisher House – Charleston provides temporary accommodation to Veterans and their families while the Veteran is receiving medical attention at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, Charleston, SC.
  • Palmetto Warrior Connection; Leaving the military is a huge transition and Palmetto Warrior Connection helps retiring warriors connect with education opportunities, benefits, housing and employment services.

Everyone is invited to visit this Field of Honor® display and walk amidst the posted flags. Those who have experienced a Field of Honor® display know to expect an inspiring and memorable panorama of red, white and blue. Those who are first time visitors will find that the display must be experienced to be fully appreciated. There is no charge to visit the Field of Honor® display. Please come and bring your family & friends.

DI Exchange Club’s ‘Field of Honor’ starts Sunday along River Landing Drive

If flags told stories, what stories would they tell? Surely, they’d be of heroes all – tales of country, bravery, patriotism, and honor. On Daniel Island again this year, more than 500 American flags will be flying along River Landing Drive, each symbolic of personal stories. The flag display, now in its second year, will be held June 25 to July 8, as part of the “Field of Honor” event sponsored by the Daniel Island Exchange Club (DIXC).

The Daniel Island POA, along with the Exchange Club of Daniel Island, the Rotary Club of Daniel Island and our residents, will turn our beautiful town into a sea of RED, WHITE and BLUE in the coming weeks.

The star spangled spectacle known as the Daniel Island “Field of Honor” is set to take place June 25 – July 8, 2017. This moving patriotic display of hundreds of American flags is hosted by the Daniel Island Exchange Club in conjunction with the Daniel Island Property Owners Association.
