Colonial Flag Foundation
Colonial Flag Foundation was organized in 2003 shortly after the first Healing Field® display was orchestrated by Paul Swenson, president of Colonial Flag in Sandy, Utah. Read Paul’s story. That first event was organized as a way to visualize the sheer enormity of human loss that occurred in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. But, as hundreds of volunteers gathered to help, it soon became evident that something much more was emerging. It became a personal gesture of support, a tangible expression of mourning, and a very real healing experience.
The display received national exposure and as a result generated queries from around the country; individuals and organizations called to ask how they could organize their own Healing Field® memorial. Since then, Colonial Flag Foundation has helped organize hundreds of displays throughout the country. Techniques, processes and standards have been developed. Manuals and other support materials have been produced, themes created and supplementary programs developed to add value to the project. Today, those who host a Colonial Flag Foundation event, receive a complete, turnkey program plus support and guidance from a fulltime consultant to help plan and execute a successful event.
Colonial Flag Foundation programs are adopted by a wide variety of civic and nonprofit organizations to generate awareness and raise funds in support their respective causes. Moreover, hosting organizations have learned that through Colonial Flag Foundation programs communities come together, visitors are educated and uplifted; and most importantly, individual hearts are healed.
Colonial Flag Foundation develops and implements programs to promote patriotism, a sense of civic duty and honor for those who serve our country.
Our programs encourage volunteerism and unity, generate awareness and raise funds for a wide array of issues in support of civic, service and other nonprofit organizations, and create an environment that helps to heal, honor, celebrate and educate.
